Great location, friendly staff, will visit again.
Deco and original features Courtyard at back lovely too
Sink plug did not work to run a basin of water for washing face. Tap did not run cold. Shower only warm or cold, not hot setting. Breakfast eggs were rubbery and tasteless. No drinking water tap anywhere to top up on drinking water.

Best Quality Toilet Paper of all Hotels I've Used This Year!
All the staff with which I came into contact were friendly, from initial reception to the bar. The room was very clean and of a good size. For an overnight visit to Greenock Morton Football Club the Tontine is surely the best place in town. Some fascinating back streets and a stone's throw from the lovely Black Cat (Greenock's oldest pub) for a pint on the way back. Also very well placed for the railway, it being only a 5 minute walk from Greenock West Station. Good hot shower at the end of the day! Whist I accept buffet breakfasts are becoming more common, I've seen better selections at a comparable price, and freshly cooked eggs would be appreciated, but the rest was tasty and good to note that they hadn't gone down the tea machine route - a fresh steaming pot was brought to me with a smile. A point worthy of note though.....see the title of this review. Take a bow there Tontine.
Bed was very hard and found sleeping difficult on this. The room was far too hot and the radiator control didn't seem to turn it off. Neither of these points are insurmountable and please take them as suggestions rather than criticism.
